Biography
I am blessed to live in a world where
words are often given to me. But to be able to communicate --
without them -- is even more powerful.
A power to communicate with colour and shape knows no
boundaries.
Stories, thoughts, experiences. That need to be shared.
But this time -- no words.
Stories. Feelings. Thoughts. Yours and mine. Connected.
Communicating.
Often, the world in which we live can visually and emotionally
reflect a dreariness, a sameness and a dullness. A world that
seems too much the same and not diverse enough.
It is my dream that my art will bring to an environment colour,
light and imagination to brighten and stir both soul and space.
To introduce something different to challenge and excite.
My work has been influenced by such artists as Rothko and Klee
among others, as I love their exploration of colour and shape
but I am exploring my own path.
In my work I like to play with colour -- often bright and bold
-- to create a certain harmony or a tension within the work. To
see them interact.
I also like to play with the colour by merging a translucency
with hard, heavy defined cuts and slashes.
I am compelled to explore the calm within chaos. The uniformity
within contrast.
Within my paintings you will find a background or portion of the
painting consisting of 10-15 layers of paint to create a
transparency effect. Its goal is to give the painting a
calmness or a soothing quality. I will then add bold cuts or
colours -- thickly applied -- to battle the calmness that the
transparency can stir, to evoke a response from its viewer.

Artist’s Statement
I often work and play in a world where the
words are given to me.
Painting empowers me with
a new way to communicate,
with color and shapes.
Inside are stories,
experiences and thoughts,
that I needed to share
but had no words for.
May you find a moment
to escape with me inside.
